The UPSC CDS 2 result 2026 is out. 8,956 candidates qualified the written exam held on September 13, 2026. Last year 9,085 qualified.
The 8,956 now compete for 451 vacancies. That is about 20 qualifiers for each seat.
The Union Public Service Commission put out the roll number lists on October 19, 2026. UPSC is the body that picks officers for the central services. The lists sit on upsc.gov.in.
How many candidates qualified the UPSC CDS 2 result 2026?
8,956 candidates cleared the written paper. All of them go to the SSB interview. SSB is the Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence.
Roll numbers were listed course by course. A name can sit on more than one list. Only the OTA women list has no repeats.
So the five lists must not be added. The 8,956 figure counts real people, not entries.
Is 8,956 higher or lower than last year?
It is lower. In CDS (II) 2025, 9,085 candidates qualified. That result came on October 9, 2025.
This year’s count is 129 fewer. The drop works out at 1.4%.
How many vacancies are there in CDS (II) 2026?
The notice carries 451 vacancies in all. OTA Chennai holds 275 of them for men. Women get 18 seats, or 4% of the 451.
| Academy | Vacancies |
|---|---|
| IMA, Dehradun | 100 |
| INA, Ezhimala | 26 |
| AFA, Hyderabad | 32 |
| OTA, Chennai (men) | 275 |
| OTA, Chennai (women) | 18 |
| Total | 451 |
Divide 8,956 by 451 and the answer is 19.9. About 20 qualified candidates chase every seat.

What must Army candidates do to get an SSB call-up?
Candidates whose first choice is the Army must register on joinindianarmy.nic.in. The call-up letter comes from that portal.
The result does not bring a call letter. Nobody sends a reminder.
Anyone already registered should not register again. IMA and OTA both count as Army choices.
Army first preference hai aur registration nahi kiya. SSB call aayega?
No. Register on joinindianarmy.nic.in before anything else. The Army sends the SSB call-up through that portal.
A candidate who changes address must tell the service headquarters.
Which certificates must reach the service headquarters, and by when?
Originals for date of birth and educational qualification go to the service headquarters. NCC certificate holders send that paper too. NCC is the National Cadet Corps.
Do not send originals to UPSC. A missed date cancels candidature.
