The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission issued Advertisement 07/2026 on October 23, 2026. Prashant Kumar, chairman of the commission, issued the notice from Prayagraj. Aided schools across Uttar Pradesh get their teachers through this commission.
Candidates did not get the rules they asked for. Amar Ujala reported from Prayagraj that they sat on an indefinite fast for 19 days, demanding the old service rules. The exam goes ahead under the new rules.
The post count is the biggest figure here. 17,735 posts is about five times the 3,529 TGT posts of 2022. That older advertisement came from the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board.

Who can apply for the UP TGT 2026 exam?

The commission has had a rough 2026. Careers360 reported in January that its assistant professor exam was cancelled. That paper of April 16 and 17 fell to a leak and three arrests.
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test moved too. It was set for January 29 and 30, then pushed to July 2, 3 and 4, 2026.
What is still not confirmed about Advertisement 07/2026?
CampusFeed could not open upessc.up.gov.in or the 07/2026 PDF on October 24, 2026. Every figure above comes from news reports, not from the commission document.
The selection stages do not match across those reports. Amar Ujala lists a 40 mark interview after the written exam, while Aaj Tak lists the written paper alone.
One earlier date is also unexplained. The commission calendar reported in January 2026 put a TGT exam on June 3 and 4. Advertisement 07/2026 now says December 23 and 24.
What happened to that June date is not clear from any report we read.
