Why did the AP TET 2026 pass rate fall?
The fall is real. This year 45.63% of papers passed. In the 2024 July session the pass rate was 50.79%.
A lower pass rate can mean a harder paper, weaker preparation, or a tougher marking scheme. The department has not said which. The raw numbers show fewer teachers cleared than last year.
How many registered for AP TET 2026 versus appeared?
A total of 2,14,486 candidates had registered for the AP TET 2026. That was for 2,38,252 papers.
Only 1,97,703 people then showed up. One candidate can sit more than one paper. That is why paper counts run higher than head counts.
How did in-service teachers do in AP TET 2026?
In-service teachers were counted on their own. 74,711 had applied for 84,798 papers. Of them, 72,288 showed up for 81,127 papers.

These teachers qualified in 41,315 papers. That is a pass rate of 50.93% among papers attempted, or 37,789 teachers.
What is the AP TET 2026 pass rate for regular candidates?
There is a gap in the numbers for regular candidates. Education Minister Nara Lokesh posted on X that in-service teachers passed at 51% and regular candidates at 41%.
One report carried the regular figure as 47% instead. The overall 45.63% from the convener is the on-record figure to trust for now.
When was the AP TET 2026 exam held?
The exam ran in computer-based mode. It was held from August 5 to August 14, and again on August 16, 2026.
The provisional answer key came on August 24. Candidates could then raise objections. The final answer key was released with the result.
