The 2026 figures show steady gains at several newer law schools. Five newer NLUs posted higher median pay or more offers than before. Their gains are real but uneven.
One caveat matters first. That 80.85% counts only the 94 students who sought a job. It leaves out the whole final batch.

What packages did HPNLU and MNLU report?
Himachal Pradesh National Law University reported a median BA LLB pay near Rs 10 LPA. BA LLB is the five-year law degree taken after Class 12. The university said its top BA LLB pay reached Rs 13 Lakh.
NIRF 2025 shows HPNLU placed 52 of 111 students in 2024.
Maharashtra National Law University at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar saw a June 2026 average of Rs 8 LPA. Its top pay was Rs 14 LPA. Professor Vaibhav Sonule of the university credited new teaching methods.
Why did MNLU Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s placement rate dip in 2025?
The rate rose for three years, then slipped once. MNLU placed 45% of its batch in 2022. That grew to 60% in 2023 and 70% in 2024.
For the class of 2025, the rate eased to 68%. So 2025 sits just below the 2024 peak. The four-year trend still points up.

Newer NLU pay still trails the oldest law schools. Top NLUs post average pay of Rs 16 to 20 LPA. NLU Delhi’s median hit Rs 18 LPA in 2024, per NIRF 2025.

RMLNLU is Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University. At RMLNLU Lucknow, 92.4% of the 2024 batch got offers. Its median was just Rs 7 LPA.
Odisha’s median was higher, at Rs 14 LPA. But NIRF data shows it placed fewer, near half the batch.
Is a newer NLU worth the fee for a corporate law job?
It depends on your budget and your target pay. A BA LLB at these NLUs costs about Rs 10 to 16 Lakh. That pay can clear the fee in a few years.
But a campus job is not certain. At some newer NLUs, many students seek work off campus. Check the college’s own placement report before you pay.
