The JoSAA Round 5 Seat Allotment 2026 result is out on the official portal josaa.nic.in, released on July 16, 2026. This is the fifth and final round of counselling.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) allots seats across 138 institutes, covering 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 56 GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes), josaa.nic.in confirmed. Allotted candidates must now complete online reporting, upload documents, and pay the fee within the notified window.
The final round removes the safety net of the earlier rounds. For IIT and IISc seats, only Freeze or Reject options remain, so this allotment is your last JoSAA offer with no upgrades ahead. Watch the NIT+ candidates closest, because they carry a two-part payment: the Seat Acceptance Fee first, then the Partial Admission Fee by July 25. Missing either payment cancels the seat automatically. Between now and August, keep checking josaa.nic.in and your allotted institute’s own reporting page daily, since physical reporting for NIT+ candidates runs August 13 to 18, 2026. About JoSAA
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) was set up by the Ministry of Education to manage joint seat allocation for admission to 138 technical institutes for 2026-27. It covers 23 IITs, IISc Bengaluru, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 56 GFTIs on a single platform. Seat allocation is based on JEE Main or JEE Advanced rank, category, and choices filled during counselling. The official JoSAA portal handles all results and fee payments.
Where can students check the seat allotment result?
Students check the JoSAA Round 5 Seat Allotment result by logging in on josaa.nic.in with their JEE Main 2026 application number and password. No separate intimation is sent to candidates, JoSAA said. After login, click the Round 5 Seat Allotment Result link, then download and print the provisional allotment letter. Physical reporting schedules for IITs and IISc are updated on each institute’s profile page under the eServices menu on the JoSAA schedule page. Save a digital copy and keep several printouts for institute reporting.
What This Means For You
If you are a student
If you received a fresh seat or an upgrade, act now. Log in to josaa.nic.in, upload your documents, and pay the Seat Acceptance Fee by July 20, 2026. If you are in the NIT+ system, remember the second payment: the Partial Admission Fee is due by July 25, 2026. Do not wait for the last evening, as payment gateways often slow down near deadlines.
If you are a parent
Help your child keep scanned copies of all documents ready: Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, JEE admit card and scorecard, category certificate, and photo ID. Since this is the final IIT round, only Freeze or Reject applies, so discuss the seat calmly before deciding. Keep track of the allotted institute’s physical reporting dates on josaa.nic.in.
If you run a college or university
NIT+ institutes should prepare for August 13 to 18, 2026 physical reporting and update institute profile pages promptly. Any seats left vacant after Round 5 reporting move to CSAB for special rounds. Clear communication on document checklists and medical exam rules reduces reporting-day confusion for allotted candidates.
What Is Next
The counselling now moves to fee payment and reporting. Candidates who want a better option can try the CSAB Special Rounds for vacant NIT+ seats.
