What changed: IIT Kanpur will teach cybersecurity online in Hindi, not only English.
Who it affects: Over 3 lakh students in more than 570 DBRAU Agra colleges.
The cost: Not yet announced by C3iHub or DBRAU.
Still unknown: The start date, the fee, and the registration link.
C3iHub at IIT Kanpur has signed a three-way agreement to teach cybersecurity in Hindi to more than 3 lakh students across over 570 colleges. The partners are Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU), Agra, and the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation (VIF). The course will run fully online. No start date, fee, or registration link has been announced yet.
What did IIT Kanpur and DBRAU Agra announce?
The three partners signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on August 18, 2026. C3iHub is the cybersecurity hub of IIT Kanpur. DBRAU, Agra was earlier called Agra University.
The plan is a vocational cybersecurity course for students in DBRAU’s affiliated colleges. C3iHub will build and teach the syllabus. VIF will run the technical and administrative setup to deliver it at scale.
The course will be delivered fully online and in Hindi. The stated aim is to reach students in semi-urban and rural areas who face a language barrier when technical courses are taught in English.
Why teaching it in Hindi is the real change
Most of IIT Kanpur’s earlier cybersecurity courses were taught in English. This one is not.
Prof Ashu Rani of DBRAU said cybersecurity is no longer a subject for engineers alone. She called it a basic life skill. She said the university serves lakhs of students across 570 colleges, and the tie-up lets it offer that skill in their own language.
The reach figure of 3 lakh is an estimate of who the course could cover. It is not a count of students who have enrolled.
What will the Hindi cybersecurity course teach?
The syllabus focuses on everyday digital safety, not engineering-track security. The named topics are practical.
They include cybercrime and cyber hygiene, social media threats, and identity theft. They also cover personal data leaks, online safety for women and children, dark web awareness, and cyber terrorism.
The format includes quizzes, workshops, feedback sessions, and customised virtual labs for hands-on practice.
Turn Your Achievements Into Stories That Students Actually Read
Feature admissions, placements, rankings, events, research initiatives, achievements, and institutional milestones before a highly engaged education-focused audience.
What is the DBRAU cybersecurity counselling cell?
DBRAU will also set up a dedicated cybersecurity counselling cell, called the CCC. It sits alongside the course, not inside it.
The cell is meant to help students who face a cybercrime incident. It will offer prevention advice and support.
Who can join the course, and when?
The partners have named the target group but not the entry rules. Here is what is confirmed, and what is not.

Hindi-medium ka student abhi kya kare?
If you study in a DBRAU-affiliated college, watch your college notice board and official channels. The course reaches you through the university, not through a direct public signup.
Do not pay any website that claims to enrol you now. No fee and no portal have been announced. Wait for the college or DBRAU to confirm the process.
