IICT Netflix Scholarship 2026: Up to 80% Off for 100 Students

The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies and Netflix will fund scholarships for 100 students across six creative programmes. The scholarships cover up to 80 percent of fees. Applications are open from August 24 to September 30, 2026. The scholarships are open to students and working professionals across India.

The offer comes from the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative. Netflix launched it after Co-CEO Ted Sarandos met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2026. The Netflix Fund for Creative Equity pays for the scholarships.

IICT is India’s national institute for the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality sector. That sector is called AVGC-XR.

Which six programmes does the IICT Netflix scholarship cover?

The IICT Netflix scholarship covers two one-year diploma programmes and four six-month certificate programmes.

The diplomas are Interactive Comics and Sequential Arts, and Visual Effects Mastery. The four certificates are Virtual Art Department Content Creation, Media Tech Workflow, Art of Character Animation, and E-Sports and Gaming Management.

Netflix helped build the syllabus for two of them. Those two are Visual Effects Mastery and Media Tech Workflow. The courses were aligned with current industry practice.

How much do you actually pay after the scholarship?

The scholarship covers up to 80 percent of the course fee. Read those words carefully. It is up to 80 percent, not a flat 80 percent for everyone.

So the real discount depends on your test score and your programme. The exact figure is set after the entrance test.

Is there a separate enrolment fee on top?

Yes. IICT charges a separate enrolment fee of Rs 10,000 to confirm a seat. This fee is paid by demand draft, cheque or online transfer.

That fee sits outside the scholarship. IICT has not published the full fee for each programme.

How do you apply and win the scholarship?

You apply through IICT and take an online Creative Quotient Test. This entrance test decides your scholarship. Your score sets how much support you get.

Shortlisted candidates then face a personal interview and a portfolio review. IICT asks you to bring any creative work you already have. An academic counsellor also walks you through the programmes before you enrol.

Who is eligible for the IICT Netflix scholarship?

The scholarship is open to students and to working professionals across India. IICT has not set a public age limit or a fixed qualification bar. The Creative Quotient Test is the main gate.

Why does the government want this scholarship?

IICT was set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The AVGC-XR sector could add about 20 Lakh jobs over a decade, on government estimates. The scholarship is one push to fill those roles.

Chanchal Kumar is Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He also chairs the IICT Board. He said India’s creative economy is at an inflection point as technology changes how stories are made.

Monika Shergill is Vice President for Content at Netflix India. She said the aim is to give young storytellers real tools in animation, VFX, gaming and comics.

Where is the IICT campus?

The IICT campus sits at the NFDC Films Division Complex on Pedder Road in Mumbai. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis opened it in 2025. The first batch was planned for about 300 students.
