Girls Outperform Boys: A Consistent Trend

Girls passed at 94.99% in the CBSE Class 10 Result 2026. Boys passed at 92.69%. The gap is 1.3 percentage points in favour of girls. This pattern has held for at least five consecutive years in CBSE Class 10 results.

In 2025, the girl-boy gap was nearly identical: girls at 95.00% and boys at 92.63%. This consistency signals a structural trend, not a one-year result.

What If You Did Not Pass: Compartment Exam 2026

Students who failed in one subject may be placed in the compartment category. This means they are not fully failed. CBSE holds a compartment exam separately, usually in July each year. Clearing it means the student is declared fully passed for that academic year without losing a full year of schooling.

Students in the compartment category should watch cbse.gov.in for the compartment exam schedule and registration window. The window to apply is usually short, typically one to two weeks after the main result. Act quickly if this applies to you.

To pass in a subject, students need a minimum of 33% marks. This counts theory and internal assessment together. Grace marks may be applied in borderline cases as per CBSE policy.

About CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is India’s largest national school board. It is affiliated to the Ministry of Education, Government of India. CBSE affiliates over 27,000 schools across India and abroad. It conducts Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations every year and sets the curriculum for affiliated schools. Students can access all official result and exam information at cbse.gov.in.

What This Means For You

If you are a Class 10 student

Check your result at results.cbse.nic.in using your roll number and admit card ID. Download your DigiLocker marksheet right away. It is a valid official document. If you are in the compartment category, do not panic. Register for the compartment exam as soon as CBSE opens registration on cbse.gov.in. Use the CampusFeed Exam Calendar to track the compartment exam date once it is announced.

If you are a parent

The online marksheet from DigiLocker is fully official. You do not need to wait for the physical marksheet before your child starts the Class 11 admission process. Contact your school to understand the stream selection and cutoff timelines. If your child is in the compartment category, speak to their school counsellor about next steps before assuming the worst.

If you are a school principal or teacher

CBSE releases the full school-wise performance report alongside individual results. Your school’s registered email ID will receive the complete result file. If your school’s pass rate is below the regional average, this is a good moment to review subject-wise data before Class 11 intake begins.

CampusFeed Take

The three-year climb in CBSE Class 10 pass rates (93.12% in 2023, 93.60% in 2024, 93.66% in 2025, and now 93.70% in 2026) is a quiet but meaningful signal. It suggests that post-pandemic learning recovery has been largely absorbed into mainstream school performance, at least at the Class 10 level. The persistent gender gap, with girls consistently outperforming boys by 1.3 to 2 percentage points, deserves focused attention from school administrators and policymakers. It is not a new story, but the fact that no meaningful intervention has narrowed this gap over five consecutive years is worth noting. The southern regions’ continued dominance at 99%+ pass rates points to a structural difference in teaching quality and school infrastructure that policymakers have not yet fully addressed in the northern and north-eastern regions. By CampusFeed Desk.

What Is Next

Students who passed can begin exploring stream options after Class 10 for Science, Commerce, and Humanities. Class 11 admissions in most CBSE-affiliated schools begin within two to four weeks of result declaration. Students in the compartment category should watch cbse.gov.in for the July 2026 compartment exam schedule. Re-evaluation and answer book verification requests can be submitted through the official CBSE portal within the window announced after results. Are you planning Science, Commerce, or Humanities for Class 11?
