Quick Facts

  • CBSE declared the Class 12 result on May 13, 2026, at cbse.gov.in and DigiLocker.
  • The overall pass percentage is 85.20%, down 3.19 points from 88.39% in 2025.
  • Girls passed at 88.86% and boys at 82.13%, a gap of 6.73 percentage points.
  • About 17,113 students scored above 95% and 94,028 scored above 90% this year.

The CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 was declared on May 13, 2026. The overall pass percentage stands at 85.20%, with 1,857,517 students registered across 19,967 schools and 7,573 centres in India and abroad.
This result marks the first major dip since the post-pandemic return to regular exams. CBSE has not released a national merit list, as it stopped this practice to reduce exam pressure. Instead, merit certificates go to the top 0.1% scorers in each subject. Students who are unhappy with their marks can apply for re-evaluation once CBSE releases the schedule and fee details on its official portal.

How to Check Your CBSE Class 12 Result 2026

You can check your CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 in four easy ways. Pick the one that works best for you.
The fastest way is through cbseresults.nic.in, the official CBSE results portal. Go to the site, click the Class 12 result link, enter your roll number and admit card ID, and download your marksheet.
If the website is slow due to heavy traffic, use DigiLocker. Visit digilocker.gov.in or open the DigiLocker app. Log in with your registered mobile number. Go to the education section, select CBSE, and choose the Class 12 marksheet for 2026. Your digital marksheet will appear. It is valid for all college admissions.
You can also use the UMANG app on your phone. Search for CBSE results inside the app and enter your roll number when asked. A third option is SMS. Type “cbse12 [Roll No] [School No] [Centre No]” and send it to 7738299899. Your result will arrive by return SMS.

What Are the Pass Percentage and Key Statistics for CBSE Class 12 Result 2026?

The pass percentage of 85.20% in 2026 is lower than the 88.39% recorded in 2025. Around 9.26% of students, about 1,63,800 in total, are placed in the compartment category. They can appear for the CBSE Class 12 compartment exam in July 2026.
Girls have outperformed boys for multiple years in a row. The gap this year is 6.73 percentage points. Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) recorded a pass percentage of 98.55% and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) recorded 98.47%, well above the national average. Independent schools stood at 84.22%.

2022 92.71% 94.54% 91.25%

The 2026 pass percentage is the lowest in the past five years. This is the first time it has dipped below 87% since 2023.

How Does the CBSE Re-evaluation Process Work in 2026?

Students unhappy with their marks have three options. The first is verification of marks. CBSE checks that no question was left unevaluated and that marks are correctly totalled. The second option is obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer sheet. You can then check your answers yourself before deciding the next step. The third option is re-evaluation, where an examiner re-checks your answers.
CBSE has updated its re-evaluation process in 2026 to make it more transparent. It now uses an On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, where examiners evaluate answer sheets digitally. This reduces manual errors during checking.
CBSE is expected to release the exact dates, fees, and application form on cbse.gov.in shortly after the result declaration. Check the portal regularly so you do not miss the window.

About CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is India’s largest national school education board. It was established in 1962 and is based in New Delhi. CBSE affiliates over 27,000 schools in India and abroad. It conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams every year. The board functions under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

What This Means For You

If you are a student

Check your result on cbseresults.nic.in or DigiLocker right away. If you are not happy with a subject score, do not apply for re-evaluation immediately. First, request a photocopy of your answer sheet. Look at where you lost marks. Then decide if re-evaluation is worth the fee. Watch cbse.gov.in for the exact date, fee, and form for re-evaluation, which CBSE will release soon.

If you are a parent

Your child’s digital marksheet from DigiLocker is valid for all college admissions. There is no need to wait for the physical marksheet before applying. If your child is placed in the compartment category, do not panic. The compartment exam in July 2026 gives a second chance to clear the paper. One compartment subject does not close doors to most college programmes.

If you are a school principal or teacher

The drop from 88.39% in 2025 to 85.20% in 2026 is the sharpest single-year fall since 2022. Schools in the Prayagraj region need to look closely at preparation and support systems for students in weaker subjects. The gap between KV schools (98.55%) and independent schools (84.22%) is worth examining when planning next year’s academic calendar.

CampusFeed Take

The 3.19 percentage point drop in the CBSE Class 12 pass rate for 2026 is real, but context matters. The board returned to full offline exams after the pandemic and has been running a more rigorous evaluation system since 2023. A lower pass rate under a more standard system is actually a more honest signal than inflated figures from pandemic-era alternative assessments. School heads and state education departments in Prayagraj and similar low-performing regions should watch this carefully. The compartment figure of 9.26% is the metric to track. If that number rises in July, it signals a deeper learning gap that needs structural attention before the 2027 batch arrives. By CampusFeed Desk.

What Is Next

The key upcoming dates for students are:

Re-evaluation application window: Expected late May or early June 2026 (watch cbse.gov.in for the exact date).
Photocopy request window: Expected shortly after result declaration.
CBSE Class 12 compartment exam: July 2026 (exact date to be notified by CBSE).
College admission season: Most central universities and state admission portals open for Class 12 students from June 2026 onward.

Are you planning to apply for re-evaluation or move straight to college admissions?
