DU recruitment 2026 opened on October 23 for 126 non-teaching posts. The University of Delhi wants 46 Senior Assistants at Pay Level 6 and 80 Assistants at Pay Level 4. Forms close on November 9, 2026.
A degree alone will not qualify. Senior Assistant needs three years of service as an Assistant. Assistant needs two years as a Junior Assistant.
The Registrar signed advertisement R&P/323/2026 on October 19, 2026. It lists two post codes. Senior Assistant is ND0601 and Assistant is ND0401.
Who can apply for DU recruitment 2026?
Only people who have already worked in an office. A bachelor’s degree is just the first condition.
That past service must come from a government office, a university or a public sector unit. A research body or an autonomous body also counts.
Private work counts only at equal pay. The firm or corporate bank must turn over at least Rs 200 Crore.
Both posts also ask for computer skill. Senior Assistant adds noting and drafting.
The Assistant post needs typing speed too. English typing must reach 35 words per minute. Hindi typing must reach 30.
Age on the closing date must be 35 years or less for Senior Assistant. The Assistant ceiling is 32 years.
Fresher hoon, experience nahi hai. Apply kar sakta hoon?
No. Work experience here is an essential condition, not a bonus. Three years for Senior Assistant, two for Assistant.

A degree with zero service does not clear the gate.
How many posts are open in each category?
There are 126 posts in all. Senior Assistant carries 46 of them. Assistant carries 80.
| Post | UR | SC | ST | OBC | EWS | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Senior Assistant (ND0601) | 21 | 6 | 3 | 12 | 4 | 46 |
| Assistant (ND0401) | 35 | 11 | 6 | 21 | 7 | 80 |
| Total | 56 | 17 | 9 | 33 | 11 | 126 |
Seats for persons with benchmark disability sit inside those totals. Senior Assistant holds 2 such seats. Assistant holds 4.
The advertisement writes them as LD, HI and OBD. It never says what the three codes mean.
What do the two posts pay?
Senior Assistant sits at Pay Level 6 of the 7th Pay Commission. Assistant sits at Pay Level 4.
The advertisement prints no rupee figure anywhere. It gives only the two levels.
In the pay matrix, Level 6 runs from Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400 a month. Level 4 runs from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100.
How will DU select candidates?
A preliminary test comes first. It holds 100 multiple choice questions worth 200 marks. Time allowed is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Every right answer gives 2 marks. A wrong answer costs 0.5 marks.
That score does not count in the final merit. It only decides who reaches the next stage.
Administration of higher education institutions takes 40 of the 100 questions. General knowledge, reasoning and maths take 20 each.
The cut-off is 50% of the average score of the top 5% of candidates. SC and ST candidates get 5% relaxation, PwBD candidates 10%.
Thirty candidates get shortlisted for the first vacancy. Each further vacancy adds 15 more.
Merit then comes from the main exam. That paper is descriptive, worth 200 marks, over 2 hours.
A skill test follows, worth 100 marks. Candidates must score 50 to pass it. It adds nothing to the merit list.
Main DU college mein ad hoc clerk hoon. Koi fayda milega?
Yes. Contract, ad hoc and temporary staff get 1 mark for every year of service. The cap is 10 marks, and service counts as on March 25, 2021.
One year of such service also brings a one-time age exemption.
What does the form cost?
General candidates pay Rs 1,000. OBC non-creamy layer, EWS and women candidates pay Rs 800.
SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay Rs 600. Payment is online, and the fee is never refunded.
One group pays nothing at all. Anyone who applied for these posts under advertisement R&P/311/2024 is exempt.
Why the 126 posts look like a repeat of 2024
These vacancy counts are not new. The same 46 Senior Assistant and 80 Assistant posts went out in December 2024.
That round ran under advertisement R&P/311/2024, dated December 12, 2024. It listed 137 posts, because it also carried 11 Assistant Registrar vacancies.
Drop those 11, and the two counts match exactly.
The fee waiver is the tell. Nobody excuses 2024 applicants from paying again if the 2024 posts got filled.
The old window stayed open 10 days, from December 18 to December 27. This one runs 18 days.
No public reason has been given for the two-year gap. The university has not said whether that round was scrapped or just left unfinished.
