What is Semicon India 2026?
Semicon India 2026 is India’s flagship semiconductor conference and exhibition. It is held once a year. This is the fifth edition.
The show covers the whole chip chain. That means design, materials, manufacturing equipment, fabrication, packaging, testing, and finished electronics. India Semiconductor Mission is the government body that runs India’s chip plan.

What is the Semicon India Hackathon 2026?
The Semicon India Hackathon 2026 is a national student semiconductor contest. It is open to UG, PG and PhD students. UG means undergraduate.
Teams have 2 to 4 members. No prior semiconductor job experience is needed. It is sponsored by KLA and Applied Materials, two chip industry firms.
The challenge areas are chip design, AI-enabled manufacturing, yield optimisation, AI in EDA, and advanced verification. Registration opened on 24 July and closed on 16 August 2026. The top 10 teams reach the grand finale at the event.
Why the semiconductor push matters for your career
India has a national skilling target attached to this sector. Under Semicon 2.0, the plan is to build over 1 lakh design engineers.
The same plan aims to equip 500-plus institutions with chip design software tools. Semicon 2.0 is the second phase of India’s chip scheme. It carries a Rs 1.27 Lakh Crore outlay.
So the jobs are being planned now. A student who understands the ecosystem early has a head start.
How do you register for Semicon India 2026?
You register online through the official Semicon India portal. First you create an account and pick the Visitor category.
Then you enter your name, city and mobile number. You verify your email with an OTP. OTP means a one-time code sent to you.
Next you pick your dates from 17, 18 or 19 September. You choose “academic” as your category. You upload a passport photo in JPG or PNG, under 1 MB. You submit, and the system gives you a Registration ID. Keep that ID safe.
Is it worth the trip from outside Delhi if you cannot compete?
For a Delhi or NCR student, yes. The venue is on the Delhi Metro and entry is free, so the only cost is travel time.
For a student far from Delhi, weigh it. You cannot enter the Hackathon or the pitch now. Go only if the network and the pavilions are worth the fare. Watching the finale and meeting 40 startups is real value. Paying Rs 5,000 in travel to only walk the hall may not be.
