MPSC has postponed the State Services Main Examination 2026, which was set for October 3. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission announced this on Monday, September 28, 2026.
MPSC will also re-evaluate the 2025 Main answer sheets. Revised exam dates will come later.
The Commission deferred two more exams on the same day. These are the Maharashtra Civil Engineering Main Examination 2026 and the Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Main Examination.
MPSC said the whole exam process is likely to be delayed.
The move follows weeks of student protest. Aspirants raised an alleged question paper leak in the drug inspector exam. They also questioned how the Commission runs its exams.
MPSC said many students, parents and elected representatives asked for the postponement. Student groups also filed objections about the 2025 Main answer sheet evaluation. The Commission accepted both demands.
A high-level committee is now reviewing the exam system. Senior bureaucrat V Radha heads this panel.
The panel has spoken to many candidates and studied other exam systems. Its report on a better exam model is expected soon.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said his party pushed for the delay. He said the party asked Governor Jishnu Dev Varma to postpone the exam. Thackeray said the request was accepted.
Vivek Bhimanwar is the current MPSC chairman. Some protesting students want him to resign. Thackeray said he hoped the Governor would seek that resignation.
