Cybersecurity teaching in India is moving past niche tech courses. Language is the wall IIT Kanpur now wants to pull down.
C3iHub at IIT Kanpur has signed a three-way deal with Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra and the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation. The course runs fully online and in Hindi.
The plan is to reach over 3 lakh students in more than 570 affiliated colleges. It drops the usual technical-English bar.

What is the IIT Kanpur Hindi cybersecurity course?
The deal is a tripartite MoU, announced by C3iHub on August 16, 2026. C3iHub is the cyber tech and innovation hub of IIT Kanpur, backed by the Department of Science and Technology.
DBRAU, Agra was once Agra University. VIF, the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation, is the third signer.
Who signed the MoU?
Three officials signed the MoU. Prof. Surendra Baswana signed for C3iHub. He heads Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
Prof. Sanjay Chaudhary, Director of IQAC and VIF at DBRAU, signed for the university. Prof. Anil Gupta, Director of UCC at DBRAU, Agra, signed too.
Why is the course taught in Hindi?
The course is in Hindi for one reason. Most cyber content is in English, and that English is uneven.
Hindi is a shared language across north India. Students in small towns and villages often hit a language wall when teaching is only in English.
What does the course cover?
The syllabus covers daily online risk, not deep tech. It spans cyber hygiene, identity theft, social media threats and online safety.

The aim is skills a student can use. C3iHub calls cyber safety a basic life skill, not a subject for engineers alone.
The three partners split the work. C3iHub builds and runs the syllabus, using IIT Kanpur’s cyber research and training.
VIF runs the tech and admin setup to deliver at scale. DBRAU will open a dedicated Cybersecurity Counselling Cell, or CCC.
The CCC is the part students may notice first. It is a counselling cell for cybercrime. It helps students who face a cyber attack and offers support.
The cell sits inside DBRAU, Agra, not at IIT Kanpur.
Can students enrol in the Hindi cybersecurity course now?
C3iHub pitches the course as a first step, not a job course. Anand Handa, chief strategy officer at C3iHub, said Hindi delivery was built to fix the access gap.
He said good cyber teaching should reach students who face a language wall. The course is an entry point, not a placement qualification.
Prof. Ashu Rani, Vice-Chancellor of DBRAU, Agra, called the reach a duty. She said the university serves lakhs of students in 570 colleges.
That reach, she said, brings a duty to ready them for real work. Cyber safety, in her words, is no longer just for engineers.
One thing is not yet public. The partners have set no start date, no fee, no enrolment portal, and no eligibility rule.
