UGC NET June 2026 re-exam results are out for English, Commerce and Sociology. The National Testing Agency declared them on September 17, 2026. In total, 824 candidates qualified for JRF. The re-exam was held on September 9 and 10, 2026. NTA is the National Testing Agency, the body that conducts UGC NET. UGC NET is the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test. It decides who can become an Assistant Professor or get a research fellowship in India.
A total of 1,96,491 candidates registered for these three subjects. But only 1,20,355 actually appeared. That is a gap of 76,136 candidates who did not sit the re-exam. So about 6 in 10 registered candidates showed up.
Why the UGC NET papers were re-conducted
The three papers were re-conducted after NTA found errors in the earlier question papers. English and Commerce were re-tested on September 9. Sociology was re-tested on September 10. JRF stands for Junior Research Fellowship, a funded research post.
How many candidates qualified in each category
Of the 1,20,355 who appeared, 35,588 qualified across all three categories. The other 84,767 candidates did not qualify in any category.
| Category | Candidates qualified |
|---|---|
| JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) | 824 |
| Assistant Professor | 11,610 |
| PhD-only admission | 23,154 |
| Total qualified | 35,588 |
