What IBM Opened in Bengaluru
IBM opened two separate AI centres at two universities in the same week. Each has its own name, focus and host campus, though both sit in Bengaluru.
At MIT Bengaluru, a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), IBM helped launch the IBM-MIT AI Lab, also called MAHE Intelligence GPU (MIG). MIT Bengaluru inaugurated the lab on August 10, 2026. It houses a High-Performance Computing (HPC) facility built to widen access to AI.
At CHRIST University, IBM set up the IBM Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence. The two partners announced the centre on August 11, 2026. It targets AI education, research and innovation across disciplines.
